Asia Pacific Breweries Limited - Acquisition of Additional Shares in SP Holdings Limited

Pursuant to Clause 904(1)(d) of the Listing Manual, Asia Pacific Breweries Limited ("APB") announes that it has increased its shareholding in its subsidiary, SP Holdings Limited, a company incorporated in Papua New Guinea, by acquiring 114,619 shares at Kina 4 per share (about S$2.16) thereby raising its shareholding from 75.44% to 75.78%.

The acquisition is not expected to have any material effect on earnings or net tangible assets per share of the APB Group in the current financial year ending 30 September 2001.

No director or substantial shareholder of the Company has any interest direct or indirect in the acquisition.
